In 1988, my wife and I moved our fledgling business to Moreno Valley, which was only 4-years old and contained a population of 75,000 people. We purchased a home and immediately felt a connection to the area and the people, and we worked to establish ourselves in the community. I have been an entrepreneur and business owner for 28 years, and I have seen the value that education has on local business and future growth.
Since that time, we had 2 children (both girls), upgraded twice to a larger home within the city, and watched as an additional 120,000 people moved into the area. Our children's entire education has been in the Moreno Valley Unified School District. I have watched the MVUSD grow and change to accommodate the influx of a diverse population, then slow and regroup with the growth slow down in the mid 1990's, then further change in the 2000's as the student population increased even more.
The priorities of yesterday either no longer exist or are magnified into sharper focus due to growth. The School Board and District Administration are faced with decisions that will impact a wider range of needs and larger student population. We will need to think into the future if we wish to keep up with these new demands.
Please join me in helping the students in the Moreno Valley Unified School District be a viable and active part of our community during their tenure in the district, and beyond, by voting for George Schoelles, MVUSD Governing Board Trustee Area 5 on November 8, 2016.
